Community Profile
LaMoure is a small town in the Southeast corner of ND. I have lived there all my life
since I was born. Population as of the 2014 census is 935 people, with 52% of the population
being male and the other 48% being female. The average age of LaMoure is 41 years old, while
the state of ND is only 35 years. The average income here is approximately $55, 723. The
breakdown of race is 97.8% white, 1.2% American Indian, 0.6% two or more races, and 0.4%
are Hispanic. 87.8% of the residents here over the age of 25 have a high school degree, 21.6%
have a Bachelor’s degree, and 2.8% of the population is unemployed. 60.9% of the population in
LaMoure are now married, 22.6% have never been married, 1.6% are separated, 9.3% are
widowed, and 5.6% are divorced. Work opportunities in LaMoure are a little scarce, but there are
some job openings for all ages that do not require any special degree or training. There are also
several towns within 30 or less miles that are hiring and have job openings. In LaMoure, there is
no hospital, but we have one small clinic. There are no dentists in the town anymore, the last one
closed a few years ago. There are 2 different chiropractors in town, and 1 physical therapist too.
LaMoure only has one fitness center, and that is the gym and weight room and the public school.
LaMoure currently has only one grocery store, one convenience store, three full service
restaurants, and no fast food chains. There is only one school and that is LaMoure Public School.
It is building that has all students K-12 in it. There are no transportation options currently in
