The issue at hand deals with a claim of respondeat superior and negligent hiring. The
company in question is Superior Electrical (Superior), which employs individuals in the business
of installing electrical wiring and other related components for new construction sites. The
company typically requires all of their employees to hold a valid driver license, in case the
employees are in a position of being required to drive a company vehicle. However, one
employee who was hired did not hold a valid driver’s license, though the employee represented
upon hiring that he did. In fact, the employee’s driver’s license had been suspended due to
several traffic violations, but the company did not verify his driver’s license status or driving
