5. What is the hypothesis of the student’s work? The hypothesis is that the misuse of substances
containing opioids has created mental health problems for individuals in recent years.
6. What work of other scientists did the student use to suggest that her/his hypothesis is
correct? Adair used the work of researchers from the National Survey of Drug Use and Health
(NSDUH)
7. What activities did the student conduct to test this hypothesis? Adair used data from specific
populations in the United States such as prisons and hospitals to test the hypothesis.
8. What results did the student collect to support the hypothesis? Adair concluded that opioid
misuse is a national concern to vulnerable populations and further intervention is needed. She
suggested that prevention projects should be implemented to understand mental health concern
and opioid care in these populations.
9. After the completion of the work presented, does the student still have the same hypothesis?
Yes, Adair had the same hypothesis after the completion of the work presented.
10. Give your personal impression of this NCUR experience. The NCUR was a great
experience; it was very informative and an event I will likely attend again.
