When I was younger, I used to think about what career I wanted to pursue. My intended career choices
have changed with age. I was always told by my parents and teachers that, “education is the key to
success”. That statement has stuck with me since elementary school. Whenever I got discouraged, I
would think to myself, “Never give up, I can do this! The rest of my life is based on the decisions I
make”. I continuously set goals to achieve because I like setting the bar high. I have always challenged
myself for the better. I have pushed towards attending my dream school since my freshman year of high
school. I want to transfer to NC State because I believe the university will benefit me professionally
and academically. I have a history for the passion of learning. I was the child that asked a million
questions and remembered all the responses received. I still ask my professors questions frequently if I
don’t understand a topic right away. Also, I believe that class discussions are beneficiary because it is
important to understand the opinions of your classmates. I am positive that I will succeed in life no
matter which route I decide to take. My “grindiddy” used to tell me, “I want you to get a good college
education so you will never have to struggle financially”. My “grindiddy” grew up during the great
depression and had 12 siblings total. My “grindiddy” and his siblings had to wear plastic grocery bags
over their feet as shoes. He understood from a young age what struggling was. During my junior year,
my mom got a call from the nursing home saying that my “grindiddy” was showing signs of death. We
rushed to the nursing home so we could see him for the last time. I remember walking into the room,
