Case: National Cranberry Cooperative Case Study
Executive Summary:
National Cranberry Cooperative is formed by growers of cranberries to process and
market their berries. In 1996 the VP of operations, Hugo Schaeffer was reviewing the last
year’s operations processes at RP1 (Receiving Plant 1). And they found a high overtime
costs even after purchasing a new dumper of $75,000. Because delivery trucks have to
wait to unload their berries at receiving plant.
In this report we will explore and analyze the operational process of RP1 to cover
below questions and their possible solutions:
1. How might transport vehicles be utilized more effectively? Should crews be
scheduled differently on peak days?
