Young Love
At the age of sixteen all I wanted was to graduate high school with honors. I wasn’t
interested in guys until a young cowboy came along and swept me right off my feet. When I
looked into his eyes all I could see was my life changing. I thought my life was going to get
better and he was going to be my support system. However, it was a slap in the face for me. The
cowboy always had a favorite saying, “Hey pretty lady, come out and sit by the fire tonight and
relax with me. You do enough homework, it’s time for you to take a small break.” So, I would
stop doing my homework and get ready to relax by the fire. But, when I get to his house there
were dozens of people there and alcohol. I fell for this trick every time but I knew if I didn’t go
he would cling on to another female.
That cowboy kept me out late on school nights drinking and partying. After many nights
of these my grades started to drop to the point I had to drop the honor program and go for the
regular diploma. I started to enjoy the party life after a while which led me to the wrong path. I
always wanted the fantasy relationship with a cowboy. The cowboy said, “One day, we will have
it all, a nice big house on a ranch.” To me that was close enough to a fantasy relationship.
However, what I didn’t know was he had a serious drinking problem. He would drink all
