MY EXPECTATIONS FOR STUDENTS
I expect course work (this course and any other course you are currently enrolled in) to be a
major priority in your life, and that you devote at least 8additional hours each week beyond the
lecture period to meeting the demands of this course. No matter what, this class comes before
your job(unless you are employed full-time and are a part-time student), your relationships (other
than emergencies, your immediate family, or important issues), your hobbies, your “other”life,
etc. Remember, “You can have it all, you just can’t have it all at the same time.” (Oprah
Winfrey)
I expect you to take this class “seriously”. It represents more than just a letter grade on your
transcript. You are most likely a business major, and what you learn in this class will be
transferable to the organizational setting, and will be of assistance to you in furthering your post-
collegiate endeavors.
I expect that you attend class without fail, except for non- routine health issues or unforeseen
emergencies. The format of this course is such that you will not be able to gain a complete
understanding of material by “copying notes” from others.
I expect you to be ready to go immediately at the scheduled start of class: seated, other books
and items out of the way, no wandering in late, etc., although I realize emergencies occasionally
happen. Have respect for your classmates. This includes arriving promptly. If you arrive late
for class and the door is closed, out of respect for the instructor and your class mates, do not
enter or knock. Please wait until break or until the next class period.
I expect courtesy toward all. Please do not be rude. If you are not posing a question to the
