The Song
“Nothing On Me” is a song written by Jazmyn Rodgers and Michaela
Cunningham, produced by Ayorinde Ayoku. The song was written in regards to
self empowerment with the female audience in mind. Jazmyn and Michaela
believe that it’s becoming a common issue amongst their generation to compete
with others whether it be with material things or physicalities, so they aimed to
use their self-confidence and self-worth to voice how important it is to love
yourself and understand that individuality is power. Jazmyn and Michaela boast
throughout the song about how others, specifically females have “Nothing On
Them” and they are right! Who can be them better than they can?
Ayoku approached both Jazmyn and Michaela about a beat he had
produced and told them to give it a listen to see if they’d be interested in
collabing on a project together, both ladies took interest and loved the beat. They
began to start working on a theme for the song. Both Jazmyn And Michaela
share similar backgrounds so when the theme of competition was posed, it was
a perfect subject because they both could equally relate. This topic is something
that they both felt should be addressed and because they are artist they used
their artistry to make a statement.
