Music and its Effects on the Human and Society
There are six thousand languages used throughout this ball of rock and mud floating
through space; however, there is one language that everyone, everywhere speaks. It is the
so called “Universal Language”, Music. Music can be used to unite other cultures, people,
nations, and nationalities. Since the dawn of the Homo sapiens, or possibly even before
that, music has been a driving force in the evolution of man as a species. The mere fact
that music has been around longer than anything else man has since discovered or
invented, besides maybe tools, shows that it might just be one of the most influential ideas
that man has stumbled upon. Ludwig van Beethoven, one of the most, if not the most
influential music maker, said it himself, “Music can change the world.” Music can and has
changed the world, but the one effect music has not had in the world, is for the worse,
music has never been detrimental to society. While yes, music can breathe such passion
into human beings that we have the audacity to argue who has the better music, but music
has never started wars, music has never started riots, and music has never led to the killing
of fellow man, such as religion, politics, or where one lives on the planet earth. It has been

be fond of the same music. While people out there certainly have similar tastes in music,
no two people are the same. Music’s mass effects on society are thus, music has the ability
to unite people, it can have medicinal proposes (both mental and physical), music is the
universal language, and music can be used as a tool.
What divides people in this world? Religion, color of skin, place you live, region of the
world one is from? The one thing that has the ability to bring all these people that are
divided by so many things, is music. Music brings all sorts of people together, regardless
of race, language one speaks, or the religion you practice. Music doesn’t care if you’re rich
