As I walked into the Fort Lauderdale Art Museum the %rst thing I felt was calmness. The aura of the
museum set me at ease. I thought I would see more objects and paintings at %rst but then when I started
walking around I was truly satis%ed with what I encountered. As I walked through the whole museum I
saw; the most beautiful object, the most interesting work of art, the most disturbing piece a special
exhibit and one of the pieces I would take home.
As I walked through the museum I looked at every piece of art work before I choose the one that kept
calling me. For some reason this one piece of art work kept calling me to come back. To me it was the
most beautiful piece of art work in the whole place. “Woman with A Baby Washington Square Park
1914” by William Glackens (1870-1938) was the artist. The artist is from America and used oil on his
canvas. The picture just stood out to me. It was based in the fall and the whole of the picture was
soothing. I think I could have stared at it for hours. I walked up to the painting and noticed most of the
vertical lines the artist used were a heavy brush stroke. The painting was think and bumpy and at times
there was smooth surfaces. The mother holding the child reminded me of myself and my son and the
days I would take him for a walk in the park and just embrace the beautiful fall smells. I was wondering if
she was waiting for someone or just embracing the beautiful day. It was a very beautiful piece.
I saw a wall painting outside that was huge by an artist named Arturo Herrera from Venezuelan. This was
the only non-European artist displayed. What interested me in this painting was that every time I looked
