Does slavery still exists today in the United States? Yes, it’s sad to say that there are
more slaves today than there were in the past and the government isn’t doing anything about it.
Modern day slavery involves forcing sex and labor on women, young girls, and boys. This is
absolutely horrible and people need to learn more about what is going on in the United States.
Also, researching where the food, clothes, and shoes come from is a good way to not support
slavery. People need to become aware of the modern day slavery problems of sex trafficking,
forced labor, and child slavery that impacts the United States.
First of all, sex trafficking is one of the main problems of modern day slavery. Sex
trafficking is a $32 billion business that affects women, girls, and boys. (Goldberg, 2014) The
victims of sex trafficking are treated like criminals. The slaves are kept captive by the trafficker,
given little to no pay and no freedom. The slaves are convinced that the going to the police isn’t
