(a) In the shift towards integrated global marketing, greater importance will be attached to
transnational similarities for target markets across national borders and less on cross–
national differences. Discuss in detail with examples any FIVE (5) major drivers for this
shift to global integration (Sheth and Parvatiyar, 2001; Segal-Horn,2002) (30 marks)
(b) According to Hofstede (1980) and Hall (1976), Americans are (i) more individualistic, (ii)
more indulgent, (iii) less uncertainty avoidance, and (iv) have low-context culture.
Discuss in detail how such cultural orientations might affect the way Japanese managers
market their products to American consumers.
