SNHU Clothing Database
The purpose of this paper is to determine the business needs of the company after
the acquisition of a smaller clothing company. The overall goal is to create a more
efficient work environment for the employees of SNHU Clothing. In order to create this
type of work environment, we will need to strip down the database system for both
company’s and evaluate the findings to present to the company stakeholders and discover
a method of pursuance.
Business Needs
SNHU Clothing will need to update their database system to a more robust useful piece
of media. The database would need to track sales accurately, control inventory and sales reports.
The use of a more robust database will increase user friendly features and dashboards to see the
information you want up front and tailor to your individual needs. For the inventory needs, I
suggest gaining past inventory counts from both stores and cross reference to quantity on hand
from the new store. This will be important for building the inventory data. Other inventory
information will be existing product ID/SKU, product name, description of the product and
current sale price of the product. Customer information: Name, address, telephone number,
billing information, and customer ID if any. The customer info will also include supplier. This
will be helpful when ordering restock or new products. Sales interaction information, the listed
price, purchase price, and the price the item sold for. This information will let the company know
what needs to be ordered and where it is going. This information will also be used to create sales
information for marketing.
