Are Emory Students Getting Paid Enough?
Picture this: you finally finished your third class of the day and you hope to grab lunch
and a cup of coffee before heading to your work-study job. You stop by Kaldi’s Coffee located
in Cox Hall to buy a sandwich and an iced coffee. You are reminded by the cash register that this
meal exceeds your hourly wage at your job. You are now faced with two choices: skip the coffee
and show up to work fatigued or make the purchase but work an extra shift. This is one of the
frustrating dilemmas that many Emory students face on a daily basis.
According to official Federal Student Aid website, “Federal Work-Study provides part-
time jobs for undergraduate and graduate students with financial need, allowing them to earn
money to help pay education expenses.”

Education expenses are comprised of any related costs
that are incurred while a student attends university. However, one of the primary reasons why
