In this situation, I would have no choice but to report the phone call to my colleagues. Doing
otherwise would be dishonest, and if my colleagues ever found out that I withheld information
like that which is described in this case, they would surely take offense and, at the very least lose
trust in me. While this approach seems obvious, at first, to some, others will immediately bring
up the well-being of Edith. We are led to believe that if we do not keep our mouth shut that she
will be the one that suffers, and that we will be to blame. This is false logic, and does not take
into consideration justice. John Deer is the only one responsible for beating his wife. In my
opinion, provocation simply does not matter. On the other hand, if Edith Deer chooses to stay in
a situation where she is beaten by her husband, then she is responsible for an entirely different
mistake, which is not valuing her own well-being and doing what is best for herself and her
children.
