Midair Collision over Georgia Inlet
The Midair Collision over Georgia Inlet is the accident report I chose to talk about, and it
really is a sad event that took place when it could've very easily been avoided. First and
foremost, the two aircraft in this report were a float-equipped de Havilland DHC-2 airplane and
a float-equipped de Havilland DHC-3 airplane. What had happened in this accident, in a
nutshell, was the DHC-3 started to descend from 4,000ft, the DHC-2 was at 3,175ft and
climbing, and they collided at 3,350ft. A big thing to keep in mind here is that the pilot of the
DHC-3 had his vision obscured by a window post on the airplane and basically acted as a "blind
spot" because the DHC-2 was what was in that "blind spot". Also, the pilot of the DHC-2 was
equipped with an iPad display with ForeFlight which allowed aural and visual alerting
