Summary
It has been 5 years since we last experienced a government shutdown. The difference
between the most recent shutdown and the last one is the current strength of the economy. To
say it is a good thing that our economy is as strong as it is right now is an understatement. If it
wasn’t so strong, the shutdown would have a much bigger impact on the economy. Regardless
of the shutdown, the $1 trillion the federal government spends annually will be spent
eventually. Federal employees’ paychecks excepted to be affected the most are air traffic
controllers, TSA agents, prison guards, and FBI agents. Members of the military will remain on
