2/10/2018 The Milgram Experiments Surprise
The Milgram experiment is an experiment that tested a person’s obedience against what was
considered the normal moral standing. The Milgram experiment was conducted by Stanley Milgram at
Yale University. Milgram’s experiment was considered unethical for several reasons, one being that he
did not notify the subject on what the actual experiment was; because it would affect the subject’s
decision making. Instead the subject was told that the test was being conducted to study the correlation
between learning, and punishment. The exam consisted of three people the teacher, the experimenter,
and the learner. In the experiment the teacher was instructed to shock the leaner in the case of an
incorrect answer with voltage between 15 volts to 450 volts. What the teacher did not know is that the
leaner was not actually being shocked, but was simulating the pain of being shocked. The test was to see
