Rajesh Kaushal
The person I am interviewing for this assignment is named, Rajesh Kaushal. She
is 38 years old, and recently opened up her own eyebrow threading salon. I’ve known
her as Raji, for about five years now. She is a certified esthetician who is best skilled at
eyebrow threading. Her parents, and herself were born in Saudi Arabia.
As for her religion, she has always practiced the Quran as far as she can
remember. She usually practices with her family, at home. She says she has never
entirely felt safe when it comes to this so she just thinks the safest place is at home.
She has also said that more recently there have been many shootings she would not
like for it to happen to her while at a mosque. Saudi Arabia is known to be the birthplace
of Islam. A majority of the people from Saudi Arabia, are Sunni-Muslims. There are also
those who are Shia-Muslims. For the most part, they believe that the caliph, Abu Bakr
was the rightful succesor to Muhammad after his death. In Arabic, the word Sunni
means “lawful”. The main root word, “Sunna” means the traditional teaching of
Muhammad. The Sunni do not recognize Ali, as being the prophet’s rightful successor
and that is the main difference between Shia and Sunni Muslims. They also believed
