Scholarship Essay
My fascination with the human body started when I was much younger. My mother is, and
was for as long as I can remember, a nurse. After work, she came home and described
diagnoses she dealt with. I found the complexity of the situations stimulating; I knew this
career path was my destiny. As a result, I decided to become a nurse practitioner. While
this is my final destination, the journey consists of academic goals that must be achieved.
At Florida A & M University, I will attain a Bachelor in Science of Nursing. Then, I will
get my Master in Science of Nursing. Becoming a nurse practitioner requires a registered
nursing license. I will accomplish this through the NCLEX-RN, an examination that must
be passed to become a registered nurse.
In sum, my academic goals are the small steps that I will gladly take to become a nurse
practitioner. As a nurse practitioner, I will run my own practice and provide care to those
needing medical attention and give back to the community by using my education in
nursing to volunteer at a free clinic. This way, medical attention will be given to people
without insurance.
