Malcolm X once stated, “The media’s the most powerful entity on earth. They have the
power to make the innocent guilty and to make the guilty innocent, and that’s power”. This
quote explains how powerful media is and how media is the ultimate factor. Media is not made
to put smiles on faces, instead it is meant to raise uproar of the nation. Media is a way of life in
this country and is more powerful than some of the most powerful leaders. For this reason, I
will discuss what media is, social benefits, and the political influence of media on American
citizens.
Media is the main means of mass communication (especially in television, radio,
newspapers, and the Internet) regarded collectively. Media is a filter. Those who are in control
have the upper-hand and can manipulate whenever and however they would like. Media
sources are at the center of today’s politics. According to the your article library website, media
are the tools for the transfer of information, concepts, and ideas to the audience. Media can be
broken up into two parts: electronic media and print media. Electronic media consists of the
radio, television, cable, internet, etc. Print media consist of newspapers, magazines, and other
weekly editorials. Print media have direct influence on the minds of common people. Whether
negative or positive messages, media are the main sources used to get information from the
government officials to individual citizens. It is not only a source for entertainment but it helps
us to make decisions of social importance. In today’s society, most media is liberal. Most
