I interviewed Marcel Gotzmann, who currently is a Dallas police officer. He began his career in 2012 and is currently
assigned to patrol at Southeast Patrol-East Patrol Division as a patrol Officer.
Officer Gotzmann career choice in criminal justice system was to become a police officer. Although, originally Officer
Gotzmann was taking classes to become a registered nurse. He quickly learned, that was not the ideal career choice
for him. It all started during the Katrina Hurricane that blasted through New Orleans. Officer Gotzmann observed
first hand, what an environment would be like without law enforcement. He saw people fighting on the streets,
people committing crimes from theft to rape. Since then he decided he wanted to make a difference in his city. He
wanted to protect the weak, against the sheep. He wanted to make a difference in communities and make an impact
on everyday citizen’s lives. He decided the best way he could do this was to join law enforcement.
