McMurphy Vs. Nurse Ratched
On December 7th, 1941 the United States of America experienced an alarming
attack upon Pearl Harbor by Japanese war forces. This harsh attack caused the United
States to join World War II. The short, but deadly battle at Pearl Harbor was the first of
many losses for the United States throughout the war, yet, some way, some how; the
United States came out on top and was victorious in World War II. In winning the war,
the United States proved to the world, that one can indeed lose a battle, but end up
winning the war. This same pattern of losing battles, but winning the war is presented
throughout Ken Kesey’s novel One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. R.P. McMurphy,
although he may have lost a few battles, ultimately wins the war in the struggle with
