Paul McCartney was a member of one of the most successful and well-known
rock bands of all time, known as the Beatles. They emerged and became extremely
popular in the late 1960’s. Everything was going well for the band, until suddenly
McCartney was killed in a car crash, or at least that is what many young people
thought. The rumor caused a huge countrywide debate, with people trying to find
out if he was dead or alive.
No one is absolutely positive of how the rumor started, however some say
that it could have been the band trying to get more publicity, or that others were
hinting that they no longer liked McCartney, so were calling him dead. On the other
hand, those who did love him so much and would be devastated if he really died,
