Swift economic evolution, global competition, rationalizing, privatization, mergers &
acquisitions and liberalization of global education have caused a surge in demand for MBA
degrees.In recent years corporations have been demanding higher profiles for various
positions, often necessitating the applicant to have a Master (MBA) degree. It is an insight
among fresh graduates that they after advancing with an MBA degree are well refined to
instantaneously take-up challenges and responsibilities in a working environment. These
MBA graduates are overconfident in salary expectations and job titles because they have
spent a lot of money to get the degree and instantly expect return for their investment.
This is understandable but unfortunately this is a wrong attitude and in my honest opinion
on this assertion total do not go in favor as believe what business schools teach MBA
students is insufficient to meet the requirements of fast-paced business industry.
Business Schools may teach one on how to work adopting certain stratagems but may
lack to groom an individual in areas which is now considered a compulsion for survival.
MBA programs only cater to the academic needs of the students and offer nothing to
enhance one’s thinking, creative and innovative skills. The inclusive personality of an
individual may very much count in the present era which may encompass certain
elements; Honesty, Professionalism, Commitment, Respect, Teamwork, Attitude, Decision
Making, these to name few essentials that are not taught during the academic course.
Theoretical achievements are insignificant which sounds very cruel but academic
accomplishments are typically useless when one enters practical life. To be honest, it is not
very challenging to get an MBA degree. One just has to listen and pay attention to in-class
lectures, memorize lessons, read reference books and work on conjectural case studies
and reproduce them in the examination. What most employees expect in addition to
innovative abilities in prospective job candidates is to have actual business exposure and
experience. If one is incapable to validate his/her experience as well as passion for the job,
one’s MBA is truthfully worthless. Lack of specialization that is real world experience is
very important factor and that can only be gained while being employed with a company
factor to realization. Restating my belief is that an MBA degree, work experience, and
personality are the key aspects to one’s success in their career. Follow the right path,
avoid shortcuts, have patience and see for yourself how you advance.
