Matron of Honor Speech
General Purpose: To give the bride and groom an encouraging speech to enlighten the days ahead as
husband and wife.
Specific Purpose: To engage in the couple’s life as I share with the audience stories of the bride and
groom and how they are meant for each other. How important it is to keep Christ first in their marriage.
Introduction
I. Attention Getter: Many of you already know who I am but for those who do not, my name is
Deidre, and I am the big sister of the Bride. I would like to take the time to thank everyone who
came miles away to celebrate Lainey and Ricky with us on this perfect day. Traveling here to
witness this beautiful couple get married, means the world to the bride and groom. A perfect
quote I found from Fierce Marriage says, “Marriage is an ongoing, vivid illustration of what it
costs to love an imperfect person unconditionally the same way Christ has loved us.”
