OVERVIEW
A. Brief background/history of the company
Mary’s Handmade begins with a tight devotion to the Blessed Mary. Owned by a
dedicated Aloysians and an alumnus of Sisters of Mary School. Sisters of Mary School is
a catholic school located in Silang Cavite. This school houses 4000 high school students
from all provinces and cities in the Philippines. These are students who are gifted with
intelligence but are financially challenged. Sisters of Mary School gives them the
opportunity to make a difference in their lives and in the lives of their respective families
by providing them with free education. These students are housed exclusively in a 15-
hectare campus equipped with world class facilities. Students are taught different life skills
during their stay and one skill is arts and crafts. These arts and crafts include rosaries,
greeting cards, house decorations, pillows and pillow cases, flower vases among others.
Lea Mariquina, have seen the quality of the students work because she was once a
craft artist while she was in school. The school showcases the works of the students once
a year during a one-week bazaar. The regular customers are fellow graduates of the
school.
As a way of paying back to the Sisters of Mary community, Lea decided to open a
retail distribution business, Mary’s Handmade, to help Sisters of Mary distribute the
students work outside the school campus. She partnered with the school and as her main
product supplier, she now distributes wide variety of arts and crafts products to other retail
stores all over Manila. She supplies to different furniture and house decoration stores,
stationery stores, and religious items retail stores.
