The Decline of Successful Marriages Due to Social Media
Marriage used to be a beautiful union between two people who were in love and wanted
to spend the rest of their lives together. Though this may still be the desire of marriages today, it
is not the outcome for most. “Social media has changed the way we meet and interact with each
other. It provides a platform to learn more about people you associate with. This can be a
problem, however, when it comes to romantic relationships. Research shows that increased usage
of social media may lead to marital problems, infidelity, and divorce (McKinley Irvin, 2017).”
Of course, social media cannot take sole responsibility for the decline of successful marriages,
but the misuse of social media can take a large chunk of responsibility for the current increase in
