Marketing Management in the Times of Covid-19
The following article published by Entrepreneur India talk discusses how marketing
management works in this era of a global pandemic. With borders being closed and production
being in hold, a giant economy like India’s is expected to shrink by 1%. During India’s complete
lockdown, most aspects of businesses have to be in hold but this is not really true for marketing
management. If managed properly, marketing can be used as the strongest tool to bring back
customers during and post lockdown for these businesses. Writer of this article and CEO of
SleepyCat suggests that instead of cutting budget for marketing, proper allocation of funding
for marketing strategies can lead to more sales. The writer also argues that with India being in
complete lockdown, Internet consumptions have rose to 13%. This fact can be utilized by Firms
to revitalize their brands. This global pandemic era is also a great time for Direct consumer
marketing where firms have a unique opportunity to connect with their consumers and receive
their feedback.
I found this article really interesting. First of all, it talks about how firms can use this crisis as an
opportunity to reach out to customers through proper marketing strategies. As an example,
since during the lockdown internet consumption is higher, firms can use online based ads to
promote their products which will give them access to a wider targeted population. Finally, I
liked the idea of reaching out to customers. Even if the Firms are not making big enough sales,
the can use this lockdown to connect with their customers and receive proper feedback. This
will not only improve their product quality but also create value among customers. More value
will definitely help firms to get ready for post Covid-19 stage.
