• Why do you think that Place or distribution is often called the forgotten P of
the marketing mix?
I think Place is the forgotten P in the 4 P’s of the marketing mix, it is just that
marketers mainly focused on developing the product, setting the price, and
designing on how to promote the product. With all these three P’s mainly focused,
marketers tend to forget the Place where they should sell the product that has been
developed. Still, without place, marketers would have a huge effect on the process
of marketing their product since they would not know where to sell their product.
Why do you think a marketing manager should not “forget” this as part of
the marketing mix?
It is because 4 P’s are created to guide marketers in starting up a business. Without
the place/distribution, the process is incomplete. Place/distribution helps
marketers to determine where to market their developed product after successfully
setting up the right price and on how to promote their product. I think the marketing
manager should not overlook place; it can be a huge role since It is part of the 4
Ps.
• What have you learned about distribution/place that you think is important
to developing a good marketing strategy?
As a marketer, you should know where the customers could easily purchase your
product. I learned that place/distribution is important because it will help you and
your customer to simply purchase it with the right channel wherein it best fits to
sell your product.
