Legalization of Marijuana
Marijuana is the most commonly used drug in the United States. However,
it has been a commonly used illegal substance and also a legally prescribed
medicinal substance in some states. Marijuana has been scientifically proven to
reduce pain in patients suffering from conditions like arthritis. Since the holistic
and medical properties of this plant have been documented, why is it not legalized
throughout the United States? This would both increase accessibility to the
treatment for patients in states where medicinal marijuana is currently not legal
and decrease the tax burden associated with the current criminalization of
marijuana users.
