Do you think the life of an ordinary person living there in the 2010s is better or worse
than the life of an ordinary person living there during the other historical periods—Qing,
Republican, Maoist, and immediate post-Mao (1980s/1990s)—that we have covered in
this course?
Although in my opinion, we could not evaluate directly about the life of these
ordinary person living there during the other historical periods. From all we studied
historical periods in lectures, we just could say that the ordinary person, specially the
women living there in the 2010s is better than the life of an ordinary person living there
during all the historical periods mentioned in class.
Why I have this comment is because as one Chinese and I grow up in one kind of
traditional family, I have experienced and know too much differences of person living
between the before and 2010s periods. Moreover, with the lectures we talked about
during class and all the relative materials we have read. It is obviously that the ordinary
person life in any of historical periods, like Qing or Maoist periods were worse than the
person living in the 2010s. Hence I would talk about the reason why person living now
