A leadership or management philosophy can be defined as a structured approach that assists
managers in leading others and creating successful teams (1). Although there are managers in virtually
every corner of the world, there is not a universal management philosophy that applies to every situation
and management position. Thus, the term management philosophy can be applied broadly to many
different practices. Overall, when creating a management philosophy one must consider things such as
their overall goals as a manager, how they want to manage their team daily, what is important, and what
kind of team they ultimately want to lead. Because people are so drastically different from one another, it
would not make sense for every manager to have the same goals or management practices. When I begin
to think and consider my management philosophy I reflect on the different experiences throughout my life
that have shaped my idea of leadership and what a successful manager looks like. Ultimately, it is my
personal belief that a good management philosophy is composed of specific management principles. I
