Throughout business there are three levels main levels of hierarchy which are known as
Senior Management, Middle Management, and Operational Management. Senior Management
is the highest team consisting of Chief Executive Officer and many others. Middle Management
is the next level and consists of science and knowledge workers. Then the lowest is Operational
Management which is production and service workers. These three hierarchies need different
computer tools in order to do their jobs.
Operational Management, the key skills needed are operation monitoring and systems
analysis. They will need to be able to understand the operating system their company is using in
their everyday job. Not much skill is needed at this level besides being able to understand the
program that was created for them to use.
Middle Management, the key skills needed are leadership, “communication, motivation,
mentoring, and designing and implementing effective group work and information systems.”
Leadership and communication basically go hand in hand because they have to be able to relay
information from senior management to operational management. Every position needs some
sort of motivation to be the best at what they do. They also implement the ideas of senior
management to operational management and make it more understandable.
Senior Management, the key skills needed are “word processing, general internet,
communication, accounting, and considerations.” Word processing is important for being able to
create simple information or spreadsheets, using the main programs of word, excel, powerpoint,
etc. Every position should be able to use the general internet, for email, research, etc.
Communication through the computer is very important because not is it only email and phone
calls, but face timing and messaging. Accounting software is important at this level because it
takes away the time of manual accounting. Considerations include being able to create
softwares for things such as “human resources and project management software.” The Senior
Management positions in a company must have the most experience with technology and
computers.
As you can see, the higher position in the business you hold, means the more
experienced you must be with the programs the company uses.
