On November 19, 2010, I awoke with a smile at six in the morning, put on my favorite polka dot
shirt; I could not wait to arrive in New York City. Waking my mother up, I yelled, “It’s time! It’s
time!” I was the first person dressed and sitting in the living room.
My family members and close friends came to see us before I left, joking about the accents that I
would pick up and our favorite memories. The room smelled like my aunt’s fried chicken and
