INTRODUCTION
This report focuses on Alcohol as one of the world’s most leading drugs. In this report I
will detail the origins of Alcohol, the many societies who developed it, and created the
various types of Alcohol. I will discuss what Alcohol is made of and how it can affect the
body both short term and long term. Also, I will speak on the rate of occurrence that
Alcohol is used, by many different individuals of all ages. Finally, I’ll discuss how much
Alcohol can cost, not only to the individual but also to the United States.
THE DEFINITON AND ORIGIN OF ALCOHOL
Alcohol is one of the most widely used drugs in the entire world, along with cannabis
and cigarettes. It has been used for thousands of years, possibly millions, by multiple
societies throughout history. It is hard to pin point exactly where Alcohol originated due
to its long history and possibly due to the fact that its creators became too intoxicated to
actually record its discovery. It is believed that alcohol was a timely accident that was
found due to the fermentation of old and rotting fruit. Many civilizations are believed to
have had “Alcohol play a significant role in many cultures throughout history including
the Neolithic Era, Ancient Egypt, and Ancient Greece” (Alcohol Use in Ancient Cultures).
