The Efficiency of Translation Machines
Purpose Statement
This research will discuss the concept of Machine Translation, the
history of Machine Translation, a comparison between human minds and
translating machines. In addition to the future of Machine translation.
A Review of the Literature
In September 1988, Richard Kittredge, a University de Montreal and
Odyssey Research Associate, called attention to machine translation (MT)
by reviewing Machine Translation: Past, Present, Future; a book written
by William John Hutchins. Kitterdge reviewed how Hutchins discussed
the importance of translation machines from different aspects. Kitterdge
mentions how machine translation give prominence to over viewing the
approaches used in history. Also, MT is beneficial for every field and not
only to translators, computer scientists and linguists.
Hutchins directed a great deal of interest on the past, and how
Machine Translation deals with well established past. Hutchins traced the
origins of translation machines which have been found in the 17th century.
THE EFFICIENCY OF TRANSLATION MACHINES
Machine Translation (MT) is a field of computational linguistics that
uses computational systems to translate text from one language to another
with no human involvement. There are three types of translation machine
systems; Rule-based systems, statistical systems and neural machine
translations (NMT):
I. Rule-based systems: This system emphasizes on common words,
industries and disciplines. Rule-based systems offer consistent translations,
aims to achieve accurate translations by organizing acronyms, synonyms
