Niccolo Machiavelli’s Teachings and Influence
Machiavelli was born in a time of great turmoil politically. His writings can be viewed as
harsh and unethical. This book is said to have been an “endorsement of rule by deceit and fear”1
(Bio.com Editors) In “The Prince”, these writings contained the most influential works in politics
in the Western world. Machiavelli’s teachings have spread throughout Spain, France, Italy, and
Britain and the rulers in each of the places either accepted or rejected these teachings. In a time
when Christian ethics prevailed, Niccolo Machiavelli was the influential writer of the
controversial “The Prince”, which gave a voice to rulers obsessed with power and had a blatant
disregard for ethics within countries such as Italy, France, Spain, and Great Britain where rulers
either accepted or rejected his teachings.
