As everything else, business world is also evolving towards more people
oriented. Although technologies and technics that are used for production seems
getting more and more important, the main difference that makes some firms better
than the others is people. Companies can be able to differentiate themselves not only
by technological improvements but also by people that are working for them. The
word ‘People’ is used to refer people who have leadership characteristics in this case.
Influence of a leader can be applaudable. George Lucas created LucasArts, the video
game company, in 1982. In the forthcoming years, the firm has faced many negative
circumstances. According to this case, the main problem is that LucasArts couldn’t
follow the necessities of the time. Moreover, the firm has internal and financial
problems. The firm is also suffering because of lagging as consumers wait to buy
upcoming gaming machines. All these adverse situations forced Mr. Lucas to take
action. Jim Ward was assigned as a president of LucasArts in 2004. Lots of things
have been changed by Jim Ward positively at LucasArts. A good leader has extremely
high influence on firm firm’s success.
All leaders have differentiated from each other in many aspects. But there is a
common wish that all leaders want to obtain which is to have influence over people
(their employees). As a short definition, leadership is the use of influence over people
to achieve person or firm’s goals. This definition brings us to that point. Who is a
