Sensation and Perception Chapter 5
I learned about a lot stuff from this chapter that I didn’t know about before.
Some of the stuff that I learned from this chapter are sensation and perception.
These two words were new in my head but when reading this chapter, I totally I
understood their meanings. I will start talking about sensation, so in page 132 from
the eBook it says that sensation is the process by which our sensory receptors and
nervous system receive and represent stimulus energies from our environment. In
my understanding this definition means that Sensation is the process that allows
our brains to take in information via our five senses, which are vision, hearing,
taste, smell and touch.
Now I will talk about perception, in that same page from the eBook it says
that perception is the process by which our brain organizes and interprets sensory
information, transforming it into meaningful objects and events. This definition
was little hard to understand but when I continued reading the chapter, I
understood what it was about. In a short definition we can say that perception is the
sensory experience of the world meaning that It involves both recognizing
environmental stimuli and actions in response to these stimuli.
