Losing Matt Shepard
Matt Shepard wasn’t the first victim of homophobic violence, but his death was
the most recognized, even the federal government took action. What made this case so
unique was that two small-minded people who had nothing to lose committed it. These
two guys to targeted Matt Shepard because he was gay and just so happened that he was a
freshman in college. Since the town of Laramie was so small and there was a reported
who advocated for gay rights, the case easily spread throughout the media.
