Longer lives or shorter lives
All people want to have a longer life; however, is a long life really good for ourselves and
the world? If the elderly are greater in population, the world will turn gray. If the world
turns gray, even though people have longer lives, they won’t achieve happiness because of
financial difficultly. Too many senior citizens will cause young people to have more
pressure, the economy will decline and the country’s development will be hindered. If
there is a proper balance between the population of young people and the elderly, everyone
will be happier.
First, as the population ages, younger people will have more responsibility and face more
pressure than before. They should take responsibility for the elderly because every young
person is getting older. Therefore, they should pay more taxes to support senior citizens
lives. In addition, all younger people have to do more work than before because more and
more people are retired, and do not work. Therefore, young people face more pressure both
in their work and lives than before.
Secondly, when the elderly are greater in population, the economy will suffer because
fewer young people cannot support the greater elderly need. Many high technology jobs,
which create a huge value, need people not only to require high education but also to
require clear thinking and modern knowledge. Only young people can do all types of work
