Content analysis method instructions
Write the method section to your content research project and provide the information
below in this order. Thoroughly explain all elements rather than just write one sentence.
Cite all sources used in correct APA citation and reference format.
1. List the research questions your study will seek to answer. Simply title this section
Research Questions. Be sure your RQs include specific variables you are examining
and are worded appropriately for the statistical test you will run.
2. Title the Method section.
3. Discuss the data that were gathered.
4. How and when data were gathered (including sample selection and population).
5. Report the total number of items included in the analysis.
6. Discuss all variables and coding categories you will use in your analysis. Group the
categories, and then list and define them. Cite sources used in the development of
your categories.
7. Define all terms used in the method for clarification.
8. Place references on a separate page after the body of the method.
9. After the reference page, provide a page (or two) with your coding categories,
including general instructions for coding and the coding guide with definitions.
