– John Muir was born in Scotland in 1838, he migrated to Wisconsin with his family when he was 11
years old.
– John Muir was first inspired by a nearly blinding factory accident to view the world unaltered by man
or machine. He proceeded to briefly study natural sciences at the University of Wisconsin but soon left
to explore the natural world around him.
– Muir First visited Yosemite in 1868 on a week trip. He then returned one year later and got a job while
he was settling in the area.
– Muir studied local flora and fauna as well as sketched mountain scenery while he guided a flock of over
2,000 sheep through Yosemite
