LINK BETWEEN SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY
This learning activity is designed to help you gain deeper understanding of the differences and
similarities between science and technology.
1. Read the handout, keeping these guide questions in mind:
• In what ways do science and technology differ? In what ways are they similar?
• How does science affect technology? How does technology contribute to science?
2. Read the online article “A Technological Revolution: 10 Technologies that Have Dramatically
Changed the Way We Lived.”
3. Choose one (1) technology mentioned in the article. In 300 words or less, (a) guess (or explain
if you already know) what scientific knowledge or set of scientific knowledge may have been the
basis for the development of the technology (e.g. mechanisms of transcription of RNA from
DNA) and (b) explain how the technology you selected illustrates the differences between
science and technology.
