Lifting Fingerprints without Expensive Supplies
At the beginning of the video, it is said that we could do this for fun or we could do this to help to catch
somebody. I think this is a great beginning for a video as it does not put too much pressure that we
should learn something as a viewer.
I learned from this video that we can also buy fingerprint powder through online, which is a finely and
micronized powered carbon. I also learned that we could use an alternative brush called fan brush which
has a long and soft bristle, but the brush that was normally used for this process is what they called
duster. There is also an item that is called micronized chalk that is used in construction, but it also can
help in taking fingerprints if you are low-budget.
Skip to the process of demonstrating of taking the fingerprints, the speaker in the video use the rear
storage of his scooter on top of the lid where you would place hands to close the lid. Dip the brush into
any powder you want to use, tap lightly and make sure that both sides have powder, and do it lightly
and carefully.
As you brush the surface, we can observe that there are fingerprints that seems visible enough to be
seen by our naked eye. We must keep patting down until we are satisfied on how clear the fingerprints’
rigid look. Always remember that we should blot gently in the area where the fingerprints are located.
Avoid using too much powder.
Afterwards, blow off the excess powder in the surface. Now we will see more clearly the rigid details of
the latent print. Using the tape, work only on one side to avoid having air bubbles and to also avoid
damaging the latent prints.
The speaker of the video repeat the same procedure in another part of his scooter, and I notice how
marvellous this process is because even though the items were just cheap ad budget-friendly, he was
able to get latent prints successfully from his scooter.
