The video, “Life’s Greatest Miracle”, goes through the processes that take
place when life is created. Living things are made up of trillions of cells. These
cells all know what their function will become through DNA. DNA is very good at
making copies of itself. When a human is being made, you need a male’s sperm
and a female’s egg. Men produce sperm at such a high speed that they can
create about 1,000 sperm a second. Female eggs are produced in utero while
they are a fetus.
Each parent provides 23 chromosomes, for a total of 46. These
chromosomes bind and embrace together and become your DNA. Every egg
and sperm is completely different from one another. There are no two alike! The
diversity of each parents’ chromosomes are what make every individual
different. If we were identical copies, it would only take one successful parasite
to wipe us out. Diversity ensures a higher chance of survival for a new
generation.
At the height of intercourse, males expel about a teaspoon of sperm that
can contain 200 million sperm. Acidity in the vagina is a danger to sperm; it will
