1. In your own words: Why was the B Corp movement created?
There are many non–profit companies that don’t serve communities and try to improve
the society. B Corp was created for that matter, to solve social and environmental
problems by using the businesses abilities. According to Rose Marcario, CEO of
Patagonia, “the B Corp movement is one of the most important of our lifetime, built on
the simple fact that business impacts and serves more than just shareholders—it has an
equal responsibility to the community and to the planet.” (Marcario, 2016)
2. In your own words: Why are certified B Corps important?
B Corps is great for communities and also the environment because it helps corporation
to be profitable while solving society’s problems. For example, Better World Books is a
certified B corps based in Mishawaka, Indiana, helped the communities tremendously.
