The movie Les Miserables has an underlying theme of a constant battle of the
letter of the law versus the spirit of the law. The movie is about a parolee John Valjean
who stole a loaf of bread to save his starving sisters life. He served his sentence under
a General by the name of Javert whom acted the letter of the law in the movie.
John Valjean served his sentence in the beginning of the move but is placed
