The Lemonade Stories
Andrew Davis
I believe that there are many things to be taken from watching The Lemonade Stories
video on the lives of several entrepreneurs and their mothers around the world. The first, as
discussed earlier in this semester, we must surround ourselves by individuals who believe
in us. In each one of the stories the people noted how their mother was such a strong
motivator and influence in starting their businesses. Familiar sayings such as, “Go for it, or
never give up on what you want and you will get there” seemed to be reoccurring by all
the mothers. Interestingly enough, all the mothers showcased were not “normal” in the
sense that they often set themselves apart by their dedication and hard work.
These stories also reiterate that if someone else can achieve it why can’t I? Many of the
individuals, such as the Simmons brothers, came from a rough childhood environment but
were still able to learn from their mistakes and become very successful. They did not allow
these challenges to be barriers, instead used them as learning experiences in order to
pursue their goals. Other characteristics that the mothers of these entrepreneurs tried to
instill in their children were independence, confidence, understanding, being adventurous,
and being dreamers. All in all, we can learn a lot from our ancestors and their experiences.
